Malachite
Malachite is a popular semi-precious stone with banded shades of green. Its unique ornamental value and one-of-a-kind designs cause it to be highly sought after. Its massive forms are well known but the crystalline forms are fairly rare. However, the crystalline forms are now becoming available to the public.
The hardness value of Malachite is 3.5 to 4, making this a soft gemstone. It’s softness limits its use as a gemstone but its beauty is hard to resist. It is found in Zaire, Namibia, Russia, Australia, England and in the U.S.A. it’s found in Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
Malachite is a result of carbonated water interacting with copper. It also can occur when copper interacts with limestone. It is formed when other chemicals alter copper minerals.
While Malachite is not a birthstone, it is the anniversary gemstone for the 13th year of marriage.
Malachite is believed to contain a steady pulsing of electromagnetic energy, which can stimulate physical and psychic vision and concentration. It’s believed to be useful for healing illnesses of the stomach, liver, kidneys, lungs and immune system. It’s said to release and draw out pain and inflammation, depression, anger and heals blockages. Some say it can be used to absorb undesirable energies including radiations produced by television and computer screens. Some use it by placing it in four corners of a room to cleanse the room of toxins and gases. Malachite is also believed to ease electromagnetic energy.
Malachite is said to be a symbol of creativity and is sometimes used to bring fears and desires to a conscious level. Malachite is said to bring harmony into one's life. Some believe it helps the user become more patient.
